The coffee

Brazil + Ethiopia

Explore two single-origin coffees in one bundle: one 10 oz bag of Brazil Peaberry and one 10 oz bag of Ethiopia Yirgachefe G1 Washed. Both are whole bean, packed separately for 20 oz total. Brazil Peaberry comes from southern Minas Gerais. This medium roast has a smooth, rich body, naturally lower acidity, and notes of hazelnut, sweetness, and raspberry. Ethiopia Yirgachefe G1 Washed comes from the high-altitude Gedeo zone. This medium-light roast brings floral character and bright blueberry, lemon, citrus, and blackberry notes. The Ethiopia coffee is USDA organic. Brew them separately to explore the difference. Grind just before brewing and use the recipes below as starting points.

Brew this coffee

Brew each coffee separately to explore its profile. Start with these recipes from our individual coffee guides. For batch brew, use 197-201°F for Brazil or 200-203°F for Ethiopia.

Brazil V60: 16 g coffee / 256 g water at 199°F1:162:45-3:15
Ethiopia V60: 15 g coffee / 250 g water at 203°F1:16.72:45-3:15
Batch brew: Brazil 62 g/L; Ethiopia 60 g/LBrazil 1:16.1; Ethiopia 1:16.74-8 min

Use fresh filtered water and grind immediately before brewing. If the cup tastes sour or hollow, grind finer. If it tastes bitter or drying, grind coarser or use cooler water. Change one variable at a time.

Works well overall

The taste left me mostly impressed overall. It was positive but not perfect. I enjoyed the main flavor and only wanted a little more flavor in the aftertaste.

No complaints, one caveat

This made its case early, and I felt pleased with one reservation. I judged the result with the product's listed price in mind, and it came close to what I wanted. Honestly, the main flavor direction was easy for me to appreciate. I am pleased overall and would keep the subtle tradeoff in mind. For me, i focused on the balance instead of expecting every tasting note to appear equally. From my perspective, the whole-bean format was one of the reasons I chose it. In daily use, good overall, just not quite a five-star experience for me. I would return to it with that small expectation adjustment. Overall the medium roast suited me, but one part of the listed profile felt subdued.

Already reordered

My notes after trying it showed I was very pleased. Origin was part of my buying decision here, and I was very happy with the result. Brazil was the origin I wanted to explore this time. Across several cups, my opinion became more settled rather than less.

Blueberry with a lemon finish

The first pass left me very pleased. A medium-light coffee was what I wanted for this order, and I was very happy with the result. On balance, i was looking for a medium-light coffee, so the description caught my attention. As I kept using it, i mainly care whether the flavor is clear from cup to cup, and the overall result worked for me.
